Department of Chemistry conducted a virtual alumni meet on 08.12.2021 and 09.12.2021. 200 participants (Alumna and outgoing UG & PG students) actively interacted in the meet.
Dr. S. Sankari, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Chemistry, Sri Saradha College, Salem began the session and provided ways to overcome adversity faced in our day to day life and also motivated the young minds to face their problems head on: “Take a step back and reframe the problem in a positive way”.
The second lecture was continued by our Alumni Dr. Brijitta Joseph Boniface, Visiting Researcher Lund University, Associate Professor, Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, Chennai. She highlighted the importance of polymers and its applications in different domains of science, technology and industry.
Second day of the meet began with the lecture of Dr. G. R. Rajarajeswari, Associate Professor, Department of Chemistry, Anna University, Chennai. She discussed on the topic “Biopolymers for sustainable materials development” and emphasized the need for socio-environmental system and to guide actions and policies for the sustainable management of natural resources.
The last session was taken up by Dr. K. Premalatha, Associate Professor and Head, Department of Chemistry, D D G D Vaishnav College (Autonomous), Chennai who gave an overview of Pericyclic Reactions and about the reactions which are very useful in organic synthesis.
