R.Sughasini hails from a farming family in Salem. She completed her schooling in St. Joseph Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Salem. Her father had envisaged a career for Sughasini, built on a passion for serving nation and protection of its rich cultural heritage. Thus, her school life was been filled with sports activities and it continued into college. An NSS volunteer in the first two years of college and the NSS leader in 3rd year shaped her aspirations of serving the public and Nation. She’s penchant towards sports shaped her as an athlete (Field and Track events).
She was a student of PSGR Krishnammal College for women, Coimbatore from 1998 to 2001. She has passed out with outstanding credentials and secured 100% attendance throughout the course. Early signs of perseverance and commitment to duty were visible in those formative years. She pursued her Master’s in Business Administration at the Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. She has nurtured skills in oration and developed interest towards fine arts, history and culture. Her goal of joining the Uniform Service to serve people got the better of her after completing her Master’s. Unconventionally, post completion of MBA, she submitted herself in clearing Public Service examinations. She was selected in Direct Recruitment of Group – I services conducted by Tamil Nadu Public Services Commission and joined Tamil Nadu Police Service as Deputy Superintendent of Police in 2009. At the Tamilnadu Police Academy, she earned the transformational and leadership skills. She completed her training successfully earning commendation and a medal in Law.
Her career at Tiruvarur, Thanjavur, Muthupettai, Manargudi helped to understand sub cultures, value system and Geo Terrain of the south districts. Her first independent charge was at Thoothukudi district and subsequently served in Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri and Perambalur districts. An avid believer of women empowerment, she helped people in various walks of lives to gain self-confidence through motivation and character building. She investigated heinous crimes, maintained and ensured law and order during the course of these service periods. She consistently received commendations from senior officers and common public for her work in ensuring safety, maintenance of Law and Order in her jurisdictions. Honesty and Hard work are part of her value system which is held by her without any compromise.. She served for 3 years and 6 months in CBCID crime branch followed by an year’s service in TANGEDCO as Vigilance officer, to eliminate corruption and investigate unscrupulous practices.
In 2018, she was promoted and posted at Dindigul district as Additional Superintendent of Police. She handled Law and Order, Prohibition and Enforcement, Crime against Women and Children. Her exceptional performance was commended by the media and public.
In 2019, she was posted as the Principal of PRS (Police Recruits School), Coimbatore. She trained 200+ recruits with greater percentage of passing out. Since, 2021, she has been serving in Coimbatore district as ADSP, Crime Against Women and Children, Law and order, Maintenance along with implementation of security schemes.
“VIZHITHIRU”, her flagship program is intended to prevent crimes effectively with exclusive focus on creating and launching awareness programs through women help desk offices and also acts as platform to support all distressed women and children with least efforts and hassles.
Through online platforms, awareness programs are conducted for various schools, colleges and educational institutions, large commercial organizations with women as significant workforce.
A dedicated programme called “Yaathumaagi Nirpom” was launched to sensitize and train Men and Women in Armed Reserve police.
She Inaugurated “Vidiyal” 24*7 helpline, an integrated control in to Coimbatore District to cater to all issues like family Counselling, Legal Aids, Special Schemes to help people in distress, De addiction Counseling, Suicidal tendency counseling, rehabilitation of transgender, Differently abled people etc.
